Cremation

There are many different types of funerals that can be arranged. The first key decision to be made is whether Burial or Cremation is preferred. Sometimes this is based on family tradition, a strong religious faith can dictate this or it is simply the individual’s preference.

Cremations can take place with or without a traditional service. Cremations are normally held at a crematorium, however you may wish to hold the service at a place of worship first followed by a committal.

You may prefer a Direct Cremation. A simple, no fuss, none attended funeral may seem a better option for you or your family compared to a more traditional service. As a family, we at Crown Funeral Services believe that even though the service may not be attended, the same level of care and attention should be present.

The type of service you have for a cremation is your choice and we are here to guide and support your wishes. After the funeral service, you have a number of options as to how you would wish for the return of your loved ones ashes. We will guide you through all options. We do not charge for returning ashes.

Burial

Most cemeteries in the Tameside, Manchester and Stockport area are operated by the council. Our funeral director will attend to all communication and paperwork, whether an existing grave is being used or a new grave needs to be purchased. The funeral director will direct proceedings on the day in the cemetery.

Funeral services can be as formal or informal as you would like and it’s entirely up to you as to how religious the service is depending on your beliefs and the wishes of your loved one.

Crown Funeral Services can organise the funeral and a burial at your chosen cemetery or graveyard and purchase a grave on your behalf where necessary. Some burial grounds have a chapel or room where the service can take place, but you may decide you want the service to take place in a particular church or other venue that has meaning for you.

If you already have a family burial plot we can arrange for it to be reopened. If you would like burial plots which are next to each other, you’ll need to talk to the local authority about the possibility of purchasing or reserving multiple plots and again, we can help you with this.
